Gasoline prices have climbed 22 cents in the past month in Utah,
according to a report issued Tuesday by AAA. What's more, a federal report
indicates that costs will climb even higher as summer approaches.
On Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of regular, self-serve gas
cost $1.98 in Utah, up from $1.76 on March 10.
Utah's average price is lower than the national average of $2.05. The
national average has risen 14 cents in the last month. Gas prices in Utah
jumped more in the past month than in any other Mountain West state.
James Freed of Sandy was filling up his mid-size sedan Tuesday, and he
was surprised that gasoline prices are again on the rise after last summer,
when they reached all-time highs in Utah of $4.22 a gallon. Because gas now
is still under $2 a gallon, Freed can afford to fill up.
"It hasn't been that big of an issue since last (summer)," he said. "But
I've noticed them creeping up."
Gas prices could become an issue for Freed when he shops for plane
tickets to Europe to visit a friend. If jet-fuel cost is high, ticket
prices will increase, and Freed may not be able to travel, he said.
How can a small town girl from Utah make it in the big time industry of being an actress?
Feb 20, 2008 by MeaMarie | Posted in Theater & Acting
My dream is to become an actress,it's all i want i love to act.....if i cant i shrivle up and die a little inside.......lol! anyway i auditioned for an acting school, made it in, but they were asking for 7 thousand! That sucked when i couldnt be in it.....but being in utah theres not much opertunity.....or is there? I need some advice on how to get the ball rolling!
Of course. Anyone can become an actress if they set their mind to it and work hard to achive their dreams. You sound like you've got what it takes.
Do you know who Garrett Hedlund is? He was born in a small town way up north in Minnesota and later moved to Arizona. He took acting lessons and when he graduated he moved to L.A. I don't think he was in L.A. for more than a month and he got a part in Troy(the one with Brad Pitt). His first movie and he got to work with Brad Pitt! He's been in tons of other movies. He's really good and is one of my favorite actors.
Godd Luck! I'm sure you're gonna be great.

Why do we had to wait the 08-16-07 Utah accident in o. we all discover the MINING INDUSTRY owns the Bush Adm ?
MSnbc Keith Olbermann & Arianna Huffington, about the Mine Collapse 8/16/07
Why do we have this situation where the Congress pass laws of Security in this Industry & nobody comply with because we have MONEY interest between BUSH and the MINING OWNERS ??????
Is it a Republican state of order to buy Minors Security, buy Human soldiers, or Salaries of Wal Mart for political -or- big bucks issues ?
As long as America needs coal there will always be men brave enough to mine it. The real question should be how many more mine disasters will there be before America finds an alternative energy source.

why is utah's motto industry?
Apr 09, 2009 by angel vz | Posted in Other - United States
and can you tell me were you found that out. like the website thank you
Actually, that first answerer is wrong. Utah's state motto IS "Industry," not "beehive state".
However, it does go back to us being the beehive state.
Utah is a big center for industry. We have coal mines, oil fields, steel manufacturing plants...the whole drive from Salt Lake to Brigham city is almost one giant industrious blob.
Many of our smaller counties are fueled entirely by mining and other industries. We have one of the LARGEST copper mines in the world too.
So "industry" stems in part from the fact that the economy of Utah runs on various industries...skiing, tourism, mining, natural resources...
Now to the Beehive part...
The original Mormon name for the Utah area settled by Brigham Young was "Deseret" which was supposed to translate into "honeybee" according to the book of mormon. The industrious bees were a symbol of the pioneers perserverence and thriftiness, a perserverence and work ethic that has extended to modern-day Utah.
So although the beehive and honeybee stemmed from Mormonism, they are still symbols of Utah today, and the motto "industry" was added in 1959 because it not only represented the history of the state, but also our worth to the rest of the country (in oil, coal, and mineral production) and the individual character of Utah citizens.
