BusinessWeek named it the "Best Small City for Startups" in Nebraska. It picked a city in each state where companies could thrive. The magazine based its decision on 11 factors, including affordability and quality of life. Local businesses said the magazine made the right choice.
What started out as a small store in 1948, named the Mills Clothing Company, has grown. The Buckle, which now has 400 stores in 40 states and 1,700 employees believes headquartering in Kearney is the right fit.
Kyle Hanson, general counsel for The Buckle, Inc., said, "A lot of our competitors are located on either coast or in large metropolitan areas and sometimes it is surprising to people that a company like ours started in and still exists in Kearney."

I am from a town in Nebraska that has about 75,000 people in a 50 radius. There are no trailer only (flatbeds, cargo, utility, ext...) dealerships in this area. I have been a RV salesmen for the last four years. I know the business. I don't have much start up money. I make very good money selling RVs but I have a Stay at home Mom/wife that likes to shop. I was just looking for any info or ideas. (Not get ride of my wife ideas) Thanks
Tell your wife that when you start up a business, she may have to wear the same clothes for 2 years before it takes off to break even. You should continue with a full time job and start your business on a parttime basis. That way, you will have a continous flow of cash to survive.

I moved out to western nebraska to open a small massage and fitness center, because the community said,"We really need something liek this here..." now its been a couple of months and Im afraid im not going to make it. I know the first year is really hard, but im afraid that if more people dont come in i will have to close and be in debt $25,000 +.... im freaking out and i cant sleep. my account is plumeting toward 0 and i dont know what to do...... could any one give me any advice.
I advertise all the time and go to community functions to help spread the word... im worried financially.
I'm sorry to hear about your situation, but it is a cold hard fact that in this so called economy people will not spend their money on things they can do without. Plus you are in a part of the country that might not be up to date with the health benefits of a massage as say the beach communities in California, Florida and the East coast.
On the other hand my family and I have just recently moved to a resort town of 300 in West Kentucky from Calif. and I was just saying to my wife the other day how packed the tanning salons are. I would never have thought this would be a great business in this neck of the woods.
If you do not have any tanning beds you might want to add a few and hand out some flyers to the high schoolers, local college and nightlife locations.
