ASML Posts Loss as Machine Sales Fall 80% Amid Slump

April 15 (Bloomberg) -- ASML Holding NV , Europe’s largest maker of semiconductor equipment, reported a first-quarter loss as sales plunged 80 percent amid an industry slump.

The net loss was 117 million euros ($155 million), compared with a profit of 145 million euros a year earlier, Veldhoven, Netherlands-based ASML said in a statement today. Analysts predicted a loss of 112 million euros, the average of five estimates compiled by Bloomberg.

Worldwide semiconductor-equipment sales are estimated to drop 45 percent this year as the global recession forces chip producers to delay spending, researcher Gartner Inc. said last month. ASML, led by Chief Executive Officer Eric Meurice , said today that it sees signs of a pick-up in purchases of its more expensive machines.

“It seems that the bottom has been reached,” said Paul Beijsens , an Amsterdam-based analyst at Theodoor Gilissen Bankiers NV, who put his sell recommendation under review today. “This is positive.”

What are the best online real estate courses that are legitimate? For someone who is new to this industry.?

I am interested in changing careers. But, can not afford to attend a school because I need the money to support my family. But, want to enter the real estate field. There are so many schools that advertise online about obtaining degrees and certificates. However, I wanted to know what online schools or courses that are best for the working individual who can't afford to quit their job to attend a school for a career change? Please help. By the way, I am in Connecticut but, have plans to move this summer to Texas. Do the real estate rules change or are different from state to state?

Real Estate is a good career but as is the case in most industries, you have to work to realize success.

Each state has it's own requirements for licencing and I suggest you check with a local broker in order to determine what exactly the criteria in Connecticut is.

The information you need is available through your Department of Consumer Protection at:

http://www.ct.gov/dcp/cwp/view.asp?a=1622&Q=287752&PM=2

Additional courses can be taken at CE Network

Getting into the business isn't cheap but the rewards are indeed worth it.

Good luck with your new career.

Does anyone know about Connecticut School of Broadcasting school and if it's worth it?

I have a good "amateur"'s resume for it, given that I have different types of aspects in the industry I've been involved in, but I feel i need a little "oomph" in the right direction.

I don't know if I could afford it though.

I'm not even sure if Dick Robinson runs the school anymore, but decades ago it had a pretty good reputation. Just bear in mind that even with help from the school to get you a job, it may very well be a "low end of the totem pole" position. Good luck, though.
