Having fun in job is key, ASSET Group's founder says - NewsOK.com

Sellmeyer started ASSET Group here in 1990 as an environmental remediation firm to repair and remove hazardous materials such as mold, lead-based paint and asbestos for private and commercial customers. She moved to California for opportunities there, and her plan to stay for a year turned into an 11-year venture.
It was there she met Fogg, who was running two West Coast construction companies. Sellmeyer had already begun to expand into the construction industry and pursue federal contracts. With Fogg’s assistance, ASSET began to work on federal contracts, although the 2001 terrorist attacks created setbacks.
Sellmeyer moved the company back to Oklahoma City in 2002 and a year later, ASSET snagged its first federal contract for mold assessments and asbestos surveys from the U.S. Navy . Yet it was Hurricane Katrina that presented a new vision.
ASSET was contacted to provide emergency services in three states hit by the storm. "It’s like creating a mini-city,”

What would be a good small business for a 60 acre farm in Oklahoma?
Feb 09, 2007 by nola_b | Posted in Small Business
My husband and i both work out side the home and would like to be able to quit one or both our jobs and have a profitable home business.
Soybeans seem to be a very versatile crop if you think you want to invest the time and money into farming. The product can be used fro food, oils and health product additives. Because soy is becoming more popular as a healthy alternative and because of it's versatility (they even make safer ink and cadles from soy), I don't the demand for it decreasing anytime soon.

How do you acquire workman's compensation insurance for small business?
May 04, 2008 by lost online | Posted in Insurance
Starting small business in Oklahoma is looking for workman's compensation insurance and is unsure where or who to contact to get it.
Check your Yellow Pages for an independent agent in your area. An independent agent represents more than one company so they are able to provide you competitive quotes. Also ask about General Liability insurance as you will need that as well.
You can also use this link to find an indepent insurance agent near you -

Day Spa and Salon Business for Oklahoma?
Aug 28, 2007 by catandkittenlover | Posted in Small Business
Can someone tell me a website to go to or what all forms are required to open a small business of a day spa and salon in the State of Oklahoma?
Here is where you go to register your business. http://www.sos.state.ok.us/business/business_filing.htm
I would however suggest that you also talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local Oklahoma office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.
The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a day spa and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.

and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business.
