NEW YORK (AP) — Harley-Davidson Inc. said Thursday it expects to cut up to 400 more jobs as it reported its first-quarter profit tumbled 37 percent due to a sluggish motorcycle market.

But the Milwaukee-based company beat Wall Street expectations and stood by its full-year forecast for motorcycle shipments, sending shares higher in midday trading.

Harley, which is in the midst of a restructuring effort announced three months ago, said it planned to cut between 300 and 400 additional factory jobs over the next two years. That brings the total expected cuts to between 1,400 and 1,500 over that period.

"We don't make any job reduction decisions lightly," outgoing Chief Executive Jim Ziemer said in a statement. "But based on further planning since January and a deeper analysis of our production requirements, we have now determined that fewer production employees will be required."

Harley said it earned $117.3 million, or 50 cents per share, in the three months ended March 29, down from $187.6 million, or 79 cents per share, a year earlier.

I have a check from Fidelity Investments from 2004. Can't find info anywhere. Could just try I guess.

Unless there is specific language on a check indicating its expiration date, a check is good for 180 days from the date of issue. If you deposit an older check, you run the risk that it may be returned and the funds debited from the account that you deposited into. If it is a good sum of money, contact the issuer and ask them to reissue.

How to Sell Package Deal/Real Estate Properties?

I have three investment properties here in Wisconsin, what is the most effective way to sell them to another investor in a package? Properties are worth around 300k and I need at least 200k. All are duplexes. Mortgages can be assumable but would rather cash out of private mortgage for other pending deals. I had listed with ineffective realtor and tried Craigslist. Any suggestions?

What are the concerns when buying a new primary home, and keeping other as 2nd residence?

I own a 2bd/ba condo in a ski town. I bought it in Feb of 2005. Because of circumstances way beyond my control, I have to move away, perhaps indefinitely.
It is possible that I will return in a year, or find that over the next 12 months I have to sell. At this stage, the investment is increasing at 7% a year. I expect that trend will continue for the next 15 years, or longer.
If I buy another home, what concerns should I consider, ie taxes, second-home owner, rent out the 1st place, etc.
I will also be moving out-of-state which I know changes some tax or something... From Colorado to Wisconsin

aside from affording everything, u want to avoid things like a cold climate and an unoccupied house where the heat goes out and all the pipes freeze and burst and the insurance wont cover it. in a nice area where i live a house had to be condemned cuz it was a second home and that exact thing happened and they did not have enough cash to pay when insurance only paid for half.
