The terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Earlier this week, Balducci’s officials revealed that the company would close its D.C. store at 3201 New Mexico Ave. NW. The company said then that the other Washington-area stores would remain open.

According to Angelo Gordon’s Web site, Demme worked with the investment firm in 2006 to acquire Kings Super Markets from Marks & Spencer. Earlier he was chairman and CEO of Bruno’s Supermarkets and Homeland Stores. Demme has been involved with supermarket and grocery operations since 1955, according to the Web site.

Besides the three local stores, the Balducci’s sale includes stores in Scarsdale, N.Y.; Westport, Conn.; and Greenwich, Conn. Also included are the company’s licensing, catering and gift basket operations.

With the exception of the Greenwich store, all of those assets have been transferred to the new owners, according to Balducci.’s. The Greenwich transfer awaits “customary approvals,” the company said.

That depends... what are you trying to do with it?

People typically invest in real estate with one of two objectives. Either they are going for "cash flow" or they are going for "capital gain".

In the case of a capital gain investment your hoping to buy low and sell high to make a profit. That's fine if you have a crystal ball and know which way the market is going to go. (See http://www.thehousingbubbleblog.com for information on the current state of the housing market nationwide).

An investment for cash flow is much less risky. In that case you are purchasing with an intent to rent. So, successful investing in this arena becomes a case of simple mathematics. The question is "Can I rent/lease this our for more than my total monthly expenses to own it." It's either Yes or No.

Unless I could answer a definite "yes" and knew that I had enough wiggle room to in my expenses to suffer a rental decrease I wouldn't be buying in New Mexico or anywhere else for that matter.

Foreign investment in Mexico began prior to the revolution, during Porfirio Diaz's dictatorship. His primary goal was to augment the nation's economy by expanding industry via foreign investment.

If you're asking about foreign intervention, that ocurred when President Wilson occupied Veracruz in 1914 (if I recall).

How safe is to buy a house in Mexico for a US citizen and how secure is your investment? It could be TJ or any other part of Mexico

You dont have any problem investing in Mexico, in real estate, just think about the major US corporations doing business in Mexico, like WalMart, Coke, Hotel Chains etc, the only thing its that if you want to buy near the beaches you have to buy making first a special trust.
