Will a heat pump be worth the investment in mid eastern Indiana?
Mar 18, 2006 by pastorlyndal | Posted in Other - Home & Garden
We have a new home (1800 square feet) with a full basement. Our heating bills have been around $300 - $400 with the temperature set at 67 degrees (and a very mild winter).
You didn't say what kind of heat you have now.
I think a heat pump might be borderline in your area. You should check around locally. I live in southeast TN and everybody uses heat pumps but you are quite a bit colder. At about 10 degrees a heat pump is not able to get enough heat out of the air and you go onto resistance heat.

Realtors? In Indiana can you give me some knowledge into the career?
Jul 09, 2006 by unhappyinin | Posted in Renting & Real Estate
Start from the begining to present if you will please I am looking into going to school to become a realtor, and would like to make sure this is a wise investment before beginning the journey. Thanks so much for any imput.
while I can not speak for Indiana, I can give you some expericne from being a Realtor in NJ
First in NJ you must take a class for certain number of hours, forget off top of my head how many hours required. Now classes where given every day for two weeks or once a week for a few months, so depends on how fast you want to get the classes over with. The examwas a multiple choice exam and if you do not pass on the first time you can take again, again.
After you pass the course and a brief ethic question, the real work begins how to get your self into a good real estate office that will support you in the beging as you learn the ropes. I have found the other agents in the office as well as other agents in general are not going to help you, so you needed to get into a good agency that has a program.
Look toward friends, or relatives that might know some one so you can get an interview, also you could try to work as a receptions in a real estate agency while you take the realtors class, then hope you can work for them after you pass the exam
Now once you are in an agecny, do not expect the mony to flow in, you will have to cold call, farm, do all you can do to find buyers or people to list their house for sale. Now all this time you will be spending monies out of pocket with little comming in if any at all. a good start would be if you know someone looking to sell and you can be the listing agent. sometimes if you live in area with alot of rentals you can make some quick monies on the rentals but still will be alot of time talking to people building contacts, I found my cell phone doubled once I started to list houses, an expense
