City Manager Steve Lewis, at the request of Mayor Cindy Rosenthal, outlined the state's portion of the $787 billion stimulus bill, signed into law Feb. 17 by President Obama. The bill is comprised of $575 billion in spending, and $211 billion in tax cuts, Lewis said.

"The bulk of the money is not infrastructure funding, which was the initial public perception," he said.

The money destined for Oklahoma totals $464 million for transportation improvements, Lewis said. Oklahoma City and Tulsa will divide $56 million, while $26 million will go to county governments for bridge repairs and $26 million will go toward American with Disabilities Act improvements.

Lewis said specifics of the bill could be viewed at recovery.ok.gov

Public Works Director Shawn O'Leary said the Oklahoma Department of Transportation would administer all the Oklahoma funds, including $33 million to the Oklahoma City metro area and $3.2 million to the City of Norman.
