Navajo leaders disagree over aspect of NM law (8:12 am) - Las Cruces Sun-News

Navajo lawmakers have passed a resolution that puts the speaker of the Tribal Council at the forefront of talks between the tribe and the state of New Mexico, but the Navajo president says the resolution is misguided.

A new law in New Mexico is meant to foster collaboration between state agencies and tribal governments. It requires the agencies to appoint a tribal liaison and keep an updated contact list of the chief executives at 22 tribes or pueblos in New Mexico.

The nonbinding resolution sponsored by Navajo Council Speaker Lawrence Morgan advises New Mexico officials to contact the speaker for the position statements of the tribe and on state issues that affect Navajos. It's a right that's currently afforded to Navajo President Joe Shirley Jr. under tribal law and one the president plans to maintain, said George Hardeen, a spokesman for Shirley.

But New Mexico Department of Indian Affairs Secretary Alvin Warren said the goal of having positive government-to-government

What would it take, and how many years for Mexico's infrastructure to be similar to?

that of the United States? It tries to copy some of it in the big cities, but what about all the small towns that make it what it is? would they have to be demolished (impossible) then what would it take, japan did it after the war, china is doing it now..........

I hate to be the one to break this to you but China's infrastructure is vastly different to that of the United States, saying that Communist China's government infrastructure is even remotely similar to the United States is absurd.

Mexico should not try to merely copy the infrastructure of the US mainly because the variables and situation is different. Mexico's plan should be to address the problems of the system in Mexico, even if that means you get outside solicitation in regards on how the system can be improved, maybe some demographic studies and forums be conducted to discover the problems in the existing system and work from there.

Mexico and Infrastructure.?

Yesterday I decided not to go to Guadalajara Mexico and well I saw my plane leave as I walked away. Today I regret not going and now I am reaping what I'm sowing. I see these events involving Mexicans and Mexico. From Drug trafficking to illegals entering America, low tourist rates in Mexico and Increased mafia wars against police for control of cities, but mainly what came into mind was tourist and traveling since well Iike I said earlier I deciding not to go yesterday.
I heard of a new train or w/e being built from LA to San Francisco fast-track easier travel; more convenient. I want to know for the people who travel to Mexico for vacation business ect. Do you think a railroad system from L.A. or San Diego to Cinaloa or Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta ect. Mexico would be an extra and well accepted source of travel? I mean It would create more jobs and more cities and increase tourism though out Mexico, thus boosting its economy and helping with the Illegal border crossing rate. I honestly think its a fantastic Idea. I have traveled by car from San Diego all the way to Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Alcapulco, Monterrey, ect. more than 10 times in the last 6 years, there is alot of back country and long deserts perfect for a railroad system, and new towns new developed cities. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I would add Mazatlan to Guadalajara, so you have a coastal resort connection with Mexico City.

Sad that you have cancelled your trip - you decided to stay in the United States which is more violent to its citizens than Mexico.

what are some of the problems of Mexico City's Infrastructure?

Mexico city is the second biggest city in the world. There are many problems such as the roads, there arent enough roads for the amount of people that live there, traffic is always really bad. The average speed in the main avenues is 15 km per hour, because of that people are really stressed out and they are often rude to others. Theres also the problem of insecurity, its very hard to control 26 million people specially when the police doesnt do its job. I think those are the worst problems in mexico city.
