Investors can buy a little higher education asset preservation. They can get a piece of a national solar testing lab or a part of a new cafeteria at the Red Lake school. They can purchase some flood mitigation in Albert Lea and some wetland easements around the state. They can get a bit of the Moose Lake Sex Offender Program expansion or a new nursing home for military veterans.

Actually, investors in Minnesota First Bonds could get some of all of that and more.

“This is kind of like the war bond idea,” said Rep. Terry Morrow, DFL-St. Peter, who proposed the change in state law that would allow average Minnesotans to invest in state infrastructure projects.

Those projects are funded through bonding bills passed by the Legislature and signed by the governor. Typically hundreds of millions of dollars of general obligation bonds are authorized, and they’re bought by large finance companies.

Did Minnesota Governor Go To The Ray Nagin School Of Infrastructure Repair And Maintenance?

It doesn't matter, it's all Bushs fault in both cases. In fact the tsunami was his fault, 911 was his fault, the Space Shuttle blowing up was his fault. The war in Iraq is his fault, despite the demoncrats who voted with him to go to war. I think Bush is responsible for Tim Donaghy taking bribes to throw NBA games. Last time I checked it was Bush who put steroids into Barry Bonds (dan rather has a source). If my Kansas City Chiefs don't win the Superbowl, it's Bushs fault.

God it's good to be a liberal/demoncrat, I don't have to take personal responsibility for anything.

Does anyone know the real reason behind the Minnesota bridge collapse?

The collapsed bridge is a living testimony to the lacking public infrastructure in our country; where some economists have come to term it as the "private affluence and public squalor." With vast money and resources being concentrated in private markets, public resources have been heavily curtailed. Public schools are old and crumbling, with teachers, firefighters, and policeman paid at extremely low wages; streets are terrible, parks/playgrounds are dirty and littered, and BRIDGES ARE DECAYING! Public funds for recreation, social services, arts have been cut. It's no wonder why a Barnes and Noble is beautifully furnished, while our old, public libraries are decayed and musty; or why lavishly designed automobiles must drive through congested traffic jams and on unmaintained roads. What's happening in Minnesota is a result of this phenomenon. Until we find a way to balance expenditures in both private and public markets, there will be other unfortunate consequences.

I wrote an essay on the crumbling infrastructure in the U.S. in junior high . . . I'm somewhere in the vicinity of 40 now!

We seem to have all the $$$ to go to fake wars, destroy other countries, and then build them back up again, but for decades now we have not invested in US!
Just like you said, public squalor.
What really got to me then and now, was the state of the rail system in this nation compared to others in the world. We put everything into our highway system, (except for tunnels, bridges, drainage) because the car is king. We have rails collapsing, their bridges falling, not enough trains to run daily and then, being inconvenient, nobody will ride the trains.
Hey Mr. President . . . oh forget it.
Hey Candidates? this neglect has gone on under both duopolic parties- what are you going to do about this or shall we find a new party?

Why all the questions about Hillary and infrastructure?

I've answered three of them today and each poster made the erroneous assumption that she has never cared about our infrastructure before the Minnesota bridge collapse. What b.s.

Senators Voinovich, Carper and Clinton Introduce Infrastructure Improvement Bill

Bill to Create National Commission on Infrastructure

Washington, DC — Today, U.S. Senators George V. Voinovich (OH), Thomas Carper (DE) and Hillary R. Clinton (NY) introduced the National Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2006, legislation created to address the deteriorating conditions of our nation’s roads, bridges, drinking water systems, dams and other public works. If enacted, the bill will establish a National Commission on Infrastructure of the United States. The commission will be charged with aiding in the nation’s economic growth and ensuring the ability of the nation’s infrastructure to meet current and future demands.
How many of you do research before you assume something? I'm just curious.
Moltar: You seem to be missing the point. The accusers are saying she only started giving a damn since the bridge collapsed. That's clearly not true. Of course she's addressing it! If she ignored it you all would be accusing her of not caring about the American people.

I don't know whether the bill passed, I'll go look that up. Whether it did or not, it's clear that her concern began some time ago, and not after the most recent bridge collapse. That's the whole point.

Actually I knew that but just from a womans perspective of course she cares how the house is built and if it's safe for the children. She will make a good mother for this nation.
America needs a mother.
